"The Fellowship of His Sufferings" – Rough Draft Version

Posted by ProliferatingTruth on March 2, 2012

NOTE:

This is a skeleton outline only. The full version will be uploaded at a future date. In the meantime, please spend some time with me contemplating what it means to suffer with Christ …

—————————————-

Philippians 3:7-14 – "What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

Lessons from Laban

Posted by ProliferatingTruth on September 16, 2011

Genesis 29; Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 – "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. 2  Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. 3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words. 4  When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. 5  Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. 6  Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? 7  For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God."

1.  DTA (Don’t Trust Anybody)- not even your future father-in-law.

2. ALWAYS get the details clear – and, where possible, ALWAYS get them in writing.

3. INSIST UPON INTEGRITY – even if your Laban HAS none, but insists he’s ACTING WITH integrity. And ALWAYS ACT WITH INTEGRITY YOURSELF.

4. DO RIGHT – regardless of Laban’s UTTER INABILITY to do right.  And …

5. GET, and KEEP, God involved.

Five Benefits of Bruises

Posted by ProliferatingTruth on June 17, 2010

I. Bruises are a Reminder of God’s Plan – They give more grace

  • Grace = The Desire & Power to Do God’s Will – Phil 4:13; 2:13
  • How to Get More Grace: Jas 4:6; e.g. 2 Cor 12:8-9
  • Grace and the Holy Spirit are Interchangeable. In Titus 2:11-12 . . .
    • Grace = The Holy Spirit
    • Grace Teaches, Meaning it’s the Spirit Who Reminds Us – Jn 14:26; 16:8-9
  • Grace and Manna are Synonymous
    • Manna was only storable for one day.
    • Tomorrow God will give you enough for only tomorrow, just as He gives you only enough manna for today.

Thoughts on the Subject of Suffering

Posted by ProliferatingTruth on April 15, 2010

1 Peter 4:12-19 – “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”
