1 Corinthians 10:13-14 - "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry."
Introduction
It’s hard to convince anyone these days to listen to the voice of experience. People want to know what will work and what won’t work for themselves. But the wisest people among us are those who learned from two sources: First, God’s wisdom; secondly, Man – his mistakes and his wise choices. It is the fool who refuses to learn from others. (Prov 15:5) "A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent." (Prov 15:32) "He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding." It is the wise man who hears not only his parents’ and others’ instruction, but who loves to know God’s take on things. (Prov 13:13 – 16) "Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded. The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard. Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly." (Prov 13:18) "Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured." (Prov 14:2) "He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him." (Prov 19:16) "He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die."

The "Tree" of Temptation

James 1:12-17 – "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
