Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Introductory Statements

Matthew 11:28-30 describes not harnessing, in which only one is working; but yoking, in which two share the burden of the work.

It’s encouraging to know that Jesus Christ, the Almighty, the Infinite God, has invited us to join the labor with Him, and not to do the work alone!

Christ, the All Powerful One, helps bear the weight of the yoke; and when we have no strength left, He can refresh and renew us to live for Him!

Relationships: Living What You've Learned About Relationships

Posted by ProliferatingTruth on May 8, 2009

Mark 12:28-34

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

Endurance: Keys to Serving God in the Valley

Posted by ProliferatingTruth on May 1, 2009

Isaiah 40:28-31: “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Introductory Statement:

- It was Oswald Chambers who observed that the real test of the reality of our decisions on the mountaintop, is our ability to carry them out in the valley.

- Our lives are not lived on the mountaintops, that is, in the exciting times and decisions of our lives. Nor should they be lived there. But rather, our lives are lived in the low points of life – the mundane, dull, day-to-day events that define all of our lives.

- Let’s look at some Biblical keys to living in those mundane days of our lives, from a classic passage of Scripture, Isaiah 40:28-31, and draw some applications from that passage, as well.
