It was a blessing to call the pastor of Lake Andes Baptist Church today! As we visited on the phone, Pastor Amell updated me on the current status of the church there. Here is a brief summary:
-
General weekly attendance averages between 13 and 17 people, up from 3 to 6 when I filled in last year.
-
Vacation Bible School saw 33 attenders this past July. Also, the group who did VBS did some trimming and paint work around the property. The kids asked if that group could come back again next year.
-
Some familiar names, from when I was preaching there, are still attending. Some other folks Pastor Amell and I had visited on occasion, when we were calling on the Reservation, are also attending from time to time. Continue to pray for Pastor and Mrs. Amell, as they have been witnessing to these people for many, many moons!
I haven’t visited the church since I passed the baton on to Dr. Bob Crane in January, 2009. I wanted to visit in May, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of my coming there as Interim Pastor, but so far, I haven’t gotten it done. I hope to drop in sometime in the future.
That’s the latest on Lake Andes Baptist Church! What a blessing to know God’s preserving that ministry, and that He’s using a faithful, reliable missionary to get the job done!
God’s doing a work in our association of churches. Please continue to pray for the Northern Plains Independent Baptist Fellowship, and our Missions and Camp Ministries!
