“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” – Galatians 5:22-23.

Following is a handy breakdown of what it means to display the fruits of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Fruit Extended Definition
Love Affection, benevolence, charity; love which evidences itself in action
Joy Cheerfulness, calm delight, gladness; peace with God, man and self that affects all lives
Peace Quietness, rest, prosperity; assurance tha frees the soul from worry and anxiety
Longsuffering Forbearance, fortitude, patience; longtemperedness; the ability to bear long
Gentleness Goodness of heart; meekness; treating the loveable and unloveable alike with true care
Goodness Purity in deeds and motives
Faith Persuasion, credence, conviction, reliance, constancy, fidelity, assurance, trust
Meekness Mildness, humility; controlled strength; authority, power and abilities under control
Temperance Self-control; voluntary subjugation of man’s will to the control of God’s Holy Spirit
